Alex Townshend is an Integrative Psychotherapist and an accredited member of the BACP. On this page Alex explains more about what she brings to the Green Door Clinic in London.
I use an integrative approach, which includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Psychodynamic and Existential approaches alongside Mindfulness and Compassionate Focused Therapy. This facilitates a more flexible approach to the emotional/psychological problems presented, in order to give the client, the best possible talking treatment for their needs.
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and an accredited member of the BACP, British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I hold an Honours Degree from Roehampton University in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am a registered healthcare provider of health insurance companies AXA, Cigna, Pru Health, Nuffield, Vitality & WPA.
I began my career working privately for the NHS, soon after I joined the Priory Hospital in Roehampton, working in both the hospital setting as well as their Harley Street consulting rooms. I am the Founding Director of my Central and South West London Practice, Talking Treatment Associates.
Whatever approach is used, the treatment is underpinned by a relational/interpersonal process between client and therapist. I treat a variety of emotional and psychological issues, including anxiety, depression, stress management, post-natal depression, addictions, eating disorders, trauma, childhood sexual abuse, loss and bereavement and problematic family conflicts such as difficult relationships, separations and divorce.
